Chalene Johnson Live Event 2016 — Tiffany and her mentees of brilliant entrepreneurs and the most genuine and kind people you will ever have the pleasure to meet!

I know I’m a little off the regularly scheduled post, so if you just want my networking tips you can skip below to the content. However,  my #1 Networking Tip to go the distance, push past unforeseen obstacles and succeed in business and in life is:

Find a Mentor and Coach that not only pushes and guides you, but one who draws an equally remarkable tribe of talent.

You have heard me mention Chalene Johnson and that I worked for her company for 8+ years some time ago and now I attend many of her events, but it was through her that I met my present day pusher and mentor Tiffany Lee Bymaster, (aka. Coach Glitter everywhere on social media platforms).  Of course,  we met through Chalene so my number one tip is on point.

To be honest, all I wanted to do was write a book. I already was lucky enough to know Tiffany as a friend, trusted her (she is one of the most honest and genuine people I know), I saw her business grow and evolve, who better ask!  My little book idea grew into my budding business: ELLIEPARVIN.COM

Most of my business, interviews, articles coaching and more was not only part of Tiffany’s guidance, but due in part to networking and working with the other people I met in Tiffany’s Coaching groups! To have my world open up to meet incredible people who many of are now valued friends is the whip-cream and cherry on top of ice cream (or cake if you prefer)!

I know I am not the only one who feels this way … Please take a moment to watch and see the video here as to why I and many other often gush over my incredible mentor and friend Tiffany Lee Bymaster:    THE COACH GLITTER!

How to Network like a professional

If you think about the most successful people in business and life, and really analyze aspects that contribute to their growth, you’ll find Networking is the act of connecting with other people, creating a network of people to help you out or for you to help them out. When you connect with other people and share you experiences and skills between each other this helps you to improve your position as a job-seeker or a business. Effective networking is crucial if you want your network to be successful. That is why it is important for you to know how to network effectively. Here are some tips that might help you with this.

Remember that networking is a two-way street

This is important to remember because when someone asks you about your business you should ask them about theirs as well. You should ask the simple basic questions like: what company do they own or work for? Who are their clients? Etc. This way you may find a way you can benefit from each other.

Prioritize your network

It is a good idea to see how valuable the contacts from your network are to you. Once you do this you should prioritize your contacts and make sure that you are in touch with the ones that are of the most value to you. Once you meet someone think about whether that someone is worth building a relationship with and if you will benefit from that relationship. You should also make sure that their network will be useful to you in the future as well.

Add value without expecting anything

You shouldn’t give your best only if you are sure that you will gain a possible connection. In fact, it is better if you add value to a connection without expecting anything in return. This way you will build strong relationships with your contacts that will most likely last longer than the other contact that you forced into.

Make your introductions memorable

Most people just lack of good communication skills and they are simply boring to communicate with. Try to introduce yourself in a way that you will raise the interested in the potential connections by delaying the job-talk for as long as possible and talk about some hobbies or interesting facts that you can come up for yourself. It is important that your contact first gets a feeling of your personality and that you can woo him with your job skills easily.

Befriend gatekeepers

In the world of business the busiest people have assistants to help them with their emails, phone call and schedules. If your connections have assistants it is a good idea to make sure that they become your friends so you can have an easier access to their boss. Having their assistant like you means that it will be easier for you to get on the busy schedule of their bosses and have the meeting that you’ve been longing for easier and faster.

Understand that not everyone will like you and don’t impose

There are a number of people that no matter how hard you try, no matter what you say they will not like you. And this is okay. That doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t work on yourself and improve your skills, but even this will not make them like you. If you see that your contact doesn’t like you don’t impose yourself on him/her. The biggest mistake you can make is thinking that everybody must enjoy your company and your conversation. This may not always be the case, and if you see that this is happening don’t impose yourself because you will only put the other person into an incredibly uncomfortable situation.
