PART II: Gratitude & Appreciation

A Birthday Reflection (Part 1- Read 5/1/2010 Blog Post)

At the beginning of this year I decided it is time to make some waves and set HUGE GOALS (many of you may have noticed the shift already). Of course, I am always setting goals, but this time it is different. I am really stepping out of my comfort zone. You know what, I am loving it!

step-out

I love and live to motivate, inspire and teach others and honestly, most of the time I feel positively invigorated (MOST of the time).

However, it doesn’t mean I don’t run into roadblocks or obstacles now and then. I never really think about asking for help from others, in fact I am terrible at this and try to solve everything on my own. Oh this thinking is so WRONG! I am telling you people this is not the rout to success and no man/woman is an island.

My gratitude lies with the amazing people in my life who can see right through me, push me and hold me accountable!

Do you have people close to you (spouse, partner, family, friends, children, colleagues, etc ) who “see right through” you?

Let’s Get Real!imagesCAJF6O33

The day before my birthday I was pushing myself to do anything to squash a funky feeling: Maybe I am not good enough to do all the things my heart wants to do to help others. It’s been a long time since I felt that way. Perhaps I was saying “yes” to too many other things taking me away from goal and spending my energies in the wrong place?

The point is that real people are not UP all the time. I felt it, my mastermind group of amazing entrepreneurs felt it (sorry team), but they pushed or maybe shoved me away from that feeling – They see right through me! Huge Thank you!

Pushing through to Positive

One thing other than exercise that helps me is looking at my “go to” positive affirmations. Also, I received the most amazing birthday card from one of my best friends and somehow she is always so timely in her correspondence. She wrote how I inspired her and in doing so she empowered me – Thank you my dearest friend

Then I taught my yoga class later that evening, which always fills me with joy. My husband was in the audience smiling back at me with pride as my students sang happy birthday (tear up with happiness now just thinking about it).

The next day was my birthday and after posting/working on Instagram and grading some college papers, I was off to teach another Yoga class.

When I got home, there were flowers and a homemade card (my husband’s specialty). Just when I thought he had no idea how I was feeling, his beautiful heartfelt handwritten words touched me so deeply and revived my energy.

The card dawned colorful hot-air balloons in the sky. Among the many beautiful sentiments written in the card, my husband put his arm around me and said,

See, you are like the balloon.” I laughed, “What? Filled with hot air?!”

No!” he replied.  “You are beautiful and bright; you will soar in life as high as you let what’s inside of you take you. The sky is not your limit – there is no limit… that’s you!

Me = Joyful Tears.tearsofjoy

Even after 12 years together, my amazing man surprises me! I truly feel fortunate!
